Dragon Aiki Jujutsu is the successor to Aiki Canada.
Aiki Canada was founded and led by Sensei Norm Harrison. Sensei Norm practiced martial arts for over 30 years starting as a teenager. Over that time he trained in various martial arts under several masters and earned advanced black belts in Aiki Jujutsu, Hapkido, Karate and Iaido. Sensei taught jujutsu for several years continually advancing his techniques. He became interested in Daito Ryu aiki jujutsu and ultimately joined the Bokuyokan to continue his studies. The Bokuyokan is a Daito Ryu organization founded by Katsumi Yonezawa who was a senior shihan in the Kodo Kai. From this time Aiki Canada focused on Daito Ryu as its primary martial art. Even when Aiki Canada no longer held formal Bokuyokan membership, Sensei Norm continued to study and teach Daito Ryu. When Sensei Norm retired many of the senior students wanted to continue teaching and training in Daito Ryu. Dojo Cho Schlueter took on the responsibility of a new Daito Ryu dojo following in the footsteps of Aiki Canada. He and many former Aiki Canada and new students train in Daito Ryu at Dragon Aiki Jujutsu. |
